# The Terminal

Hyperlynx has two views for trading. Both execute the same swaps against the same liquidity — the difference is how much detail you see.

## Simple vs Pro

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Simple" %}
The default. A clean swap box: pick two tokens, enter an amount, confirm. Best for quick trades and getting started.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Pro" %}
A full terminal: live chart on the left, swap docked on the right, plus a depth panel and your recent activity. Best for sizing trades and reading the market. incoming
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

Your choice persists between visits.

## The chart

The chart follows the form. When you select a direct pool, it shows that pool's price. For a multi-hop route, it shows the **derived cross-rate** from both legs, labelled so you know it's a derived view, not a single pool.

## The depth panel

The depth panel shows liquidity around the current price. As you type an amount, it estimates:

* your **size** as a share of the pool, and
* the resulting **price impact**.

This is how you judge whether a pool can absorb your trade cleanly before you send it.

## Keyboard shortcuts

| Key | Action                   |
| --- | ------------------------ |
| `/` | Jump to the amount field |
| `m` | Toggle Simple / Pro      |

{% hint style="info" %}
Pro view is heavier on data. If you just want to swap and move on, Simple does the same job in fewer clicks.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://hyperlynx.gitbook.io/hyperlynx-docs/trading/the-terminal.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
